My name is RJ Schmertz.  I am a growing software developer that would like somewhere to write down my thoughts and ideas.  I’ve always believed that reiterating something will help you remember it better, it can be living documentation and who knows, maybe I’ll be able to share some of my knowledge and experience with some others.

My goal for this blog is to capture information that is in my head, things that I have to learn or knowledge that I will gain as I go along.  And, to share that here.

For hands on, deep-dive technology learning I am a big advocate of Pluralsight. They have videos on just about any technology or language topic that you can think of, with new ones all the time. It is easy to do a search and browse the descriptions and table of contents to find the video that is right for you. They can provide downloads of the files from the examples. They have an app so you can watch it on your mobile devices, and you can even download them for offline watching.

One of my #1 favorite ways to gain general knowledge is to listen to audio books. The biggest step to adding more time for this was turning on a book while I’m driving, and while I’m running on the treadmill or outside. While I’m lifting I like to listen to podcasts because they require less focus. Audible will let you try it out for free.

HTML Forms – Identifying inputs Label The <label> element is the most formal way to tie an input to it’s label. This is the most important element when building accessible forms.
